Electrician

Kansas City Repertory Theatre (LORT B, C2) in Kansas City, Missouri seeks electrician for its 2008-2009 season. Applicants should have a minimum of 1 year professional theatre experience. Detailed knowledge of current lighting technology, programming ETC equipment, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting is a must. Successful candidate will have excellent computer and communication skills. Ability to work at heights, good night vision and hearing, and heavy lifting required. Responsibilities include light hang, strike, changeover, system maintenance, board operation for all KC Rep shows and special events. Position will be available from Sept 2008 through mid June 2009. Benefits available include health, dental, life, and 401(k).

Carpenter

Kansas City Repertory Theatre (LORT B, C2) in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a carpenter for its 08-09 season. Applicants should have one year of professional theatre experience or bachelor’s in technical theatre. Detailed knowledge of advanced woodworking, welding and rigging is a must. Ability to work at heights, good night vision and hearing, and heavy lifting required. Responsibilities include; construction, load in, strike and changeover. Season runs from August 2008 to May 2009.

Internships and Job Shadowing

Internships

Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s Internship Program is focused on creating opportunities for collaborative relationships between high school and college-aged students and the KC Rep’s experienced theatre professionals. This program will use a combination of hands-on experience, professional training and mentorships to introduce students to the skills required to become the next generation of artists and arts administrators. We are committed to encouraging and guiding students through the transition from student to professional and tailor each internship experience to the current needs of our organization and to the experience and objectives of the intern.

Arts Management Internships are designed for candidates who intend to make arts administration their profession. Intern schedules are negotiable, but would typically fall between the hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday- Friday. Creative and Production interns are flexible and would include evening and weekend hours.

Internships are unpaid but students are encouraged to apply for college credit through their respective universities.

All Interns will be provided with hands-on, real world experience in a professional theatre environment. Interns will be full members of their departments, requiring them to attend appropriate departmental and staff meetings. The KC Rep Theatre’s staff will provide each intern with training, guidance, and professional knowledge. We are seeking a part-time Marketing Intern to promote and market the upcoming 08/09 season. This internship is perfect for people with a passion for the arts and creative individuals looking to build or diversify their resume and portfolio.

Job Shadowing:

Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s Job Shadowing Program gives local students an opportunity to shadow a member of KC Rep’s professional staff for a day or an event as a slice-of-work life view into a career in the theatre or arts administration.
