Properties Carpenter/Artisan Kansas City Repertory Theatre (Lort B and D) in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a properties carpenter for its 2013-14 season. Kansas City Repertory Theatre produces seven shows, in two theatres, per season. Applicants will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre or the equivalent experience in technical theatre. Applicant must be an organized, self-starter with ability to problem solve in a team environment. Successful candidate will have a working knowledge of woodworking, metal techniques, casting and molding. Autocad and Photoshop skills, as well as knowledge of basic electronics, pneumatics and theatre effects, are highly desired. Candidate will have knowledge of period styles as well as the ability to read blueprints and drafting documents to produce accurate working drawings. He/she will be able to meet the minimum standards stated in the Physical Job Requirements. The Physical Job Requirements are available upon request from the Personnel Office. Contract dates will be July 29, 2013 through April 14, 2014, renewable for the 2014-15 season. Application reviews will begin immediately. The position will remain open until filled. Internships and Job Shadowing
Internships
Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Internship Program is focused on creating opportunities for collaborative relationships between high school and college-aged students and the KC Rep's experienced theatre professionals. This program will use a combination of hands-on experience, professional training and mentorships to introduce students to the skills required to become the next generation of artists and arts administrators. We are committed to encouraging and guiding students through the transition from student to professional and tailor each internship experience to the current needs of our organization and to the experience and objectives of the intern.
Arts Management Internships are designed for candidates who intend to make arts administration their profession. Intern schedules are negotiable, but would typically fall between the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday- Friday. Creative and Production interns are flexible and would include evening and weekend hours.
Internships are unpaid but students are encouraged to apply for college credit through their respective universities.
All Interns will be provided with hands-on, real world experience in a professional theatre environment. Interns will be full members of their departments, requiring them to attend appropriate departmental and staff meetings. The KC Rep Theatre's staff will provide each intern with training, guidance, and professional knowledge. Job Shadowing
Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Job Shadowing Program gives local students an opportunity to shadow a member of KC Rep's professional staff for a day or an event as a slice-of-work life view into a career in the theatre or arts administration.
