Tony Nominee for Best Play

Radio Golf tells the story of charismatic African-American political candidate and real estate tycoon Harmond Wilks, who is running for office while attempting to revitalize the historic Hill District using federal funds. When an old mansion, the home of the legendary Aunt Ester, is slated for demolition, a stranger claiming ownership appears, forcing Wilks to choose between his ambition and the inevitable pull of his own history. Radio Golf's contemporary resonance is as significant and relevant as today's campaign headlines. Directed by Lou Bellamy (A Raisin in the Sun, Jitney and Two Trains Running) this final play in Wilson's ten-play cycle has special significance to Kansas City since Wilson finished much of his work on this play while he was in town for the Rep's production of Two Trains Running. "Stunning, wonderful & elegant"! --The Boston Herald -- "Funny, thoughtful and reverberant" -- Los Angeles Times
