For Teachers
Theatre is an extraordinary experience, an art form unlike any other. The Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues to fine-tune and expand our educational services.
The Student Matinees Series at Kansas City Repertory Theatre are an affordable way for area students to experience professional theatre performances.
In addition to seeing a professional theatre production, all matinees are immediately followed by "talk backs", allowing students to learn more about the performance and production via discussions with the actors and technical crew. All student matinees begin at 10:00 AM with the exception of A Christmas Story, the Musical matinees which begin at 10:30 AM.
Student matinees for the 2009/10 Season are as follows:
Into the Woods (Performance at 10:00 a.m.)
October 1 & October 6
A Christmas Story (All performances are at 10:30 a.m.)

Please review the "Notes on Attending the Theatre" information with your students before attending the performance. Please share this with other chaperones.
Thank you for sharing the guidelines included in these packets with your students to assist them in making choices that will encourage their successful audience participation. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Class Projects
As you consider the projects and resources in the Learning Guide, please feel free to adapt them for your group's needs and grade level. Some of the projects require time for students to prepare, so please allow enough advance time to complete the project before the production.
Each project has three phases:
- Preparing for the Production: Aspects to explore
before you attend the theater.
- Active Audience: Things for students to consider
while watching the show.
- Connecting in the Classroom: Follow-up activities
to complete the learning process.
Network
The Rep's Teacher Network is designed to facilitate communication between teachers and arts professionals so that they can share strategies, practices, lessons, and new professional knowledge related to all aspects of theatre across the curriculum.
A free service, the Rep's Teacher Network includes an online newsletter that serves as a clearing house of current information regarding school events, available arts opportunities to students and theatre educators, and current programming offered by the Rep to the greater Kansas City community.
Advisory Council
The Rep Teachers' Advisory Council helps focus the activities of the education department as we work to develop programming that serves the needs of our educational community.
This braintrust represents a cross section of Kansas City metropolitan area teachers and meets regularly throughout the year.
